Job Description

• Assists in the correct application of labor contract rules and past practices.
• Investigates grievances to determine appropriate response.
• This includes cases that lack precedent and require action beyond clearly applicable contract language.
• May represent the Company through the early steps of the grievance procedure.
• Prepares Company responses to grievances based on interpretation of facts and contract language.
• The manager consulted when no clear precedent exists.
• Deals with disciplinary issues such as written warnings and disciplinary hearings.
• Administers in-factory subcontracting in areas such as notice, documentation, working with engineering, and other activities to avoid violations of the labour contract.
• Coordinates with related departments such as Medical, Payroll, and Human Resources to resolve and better manage the production/maintenance employees.
• Trains new supervisors on contract administration.
• Administers workforce movement according to master and local agreements

Job Requirements

• Understanding of current labour agreement and labour law.
• Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
• Understanding of compensation programs and benefit plans for production/maintenance employees.
• Good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and factory operations.
• Good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge
• Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
• Good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
