Job Description

As Assistant Controller you will be responsible for mentoring, motivating and managing a GL Team of 5-7 FTE’s. This is a predominately Balance Sheet role of high volume and complexity accounts for a significant Client in the Insurance Industry. This role has Client Facing interactions. Requirements and responsibilities of the role are as follows: • 3-5 Years of Corporate GL Accounting experience in Monthly Close environment with direct responsibility for the Balance Sheet is a must have. 1-3 years of Supervisory Experience in the same environment is also a must have. • Accounting Degree is a must have. CPA is a strong plus. • Public Accounting experience in Auditing is desired but not required. • Knowledge of general ledger accounting, specifically with reconciliations of general ledger accounts and associated sub-accounts in separate ERP’s. • Solid experience working in ERP environment. SAP is a strong plus. • Oversee team’s efforts to reconcile high volume, high complexity accounts including corrective treatment for out of balance conditions. Manage Out of Balance (OOB) Metrics across accounts and team members. Prescribe improvement initiatives to improve metrics. • Perform management reporting on all internal as well as client facing metrics. • Supplying timely and accurate financial information and summary reports to corporate and client leadership. • Assist in the development and roll-out of training and mentoring programs. Ensures that processes are understood and being followed by the team members. • Builds supportive relationships with peers, colleagues and client leadership. • Sox experience and control environment exposure desired. • Support the client for internal and external financial and operational Audits. • Compliance with all applicable Rules/ Regulations and Company and Group Policies. • Good communication skills (written and verbal). • Good interpersonal, presentation and documentation skills. • Process improvement skills highly desired. • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures (US GAAP). • Knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) at a proficient level.
